Faith

Students learning and actively living their faith on a daily basis is vital to the complete SVdP education. Whether it is attending Mass, Adoration, or Reconciliation, receiving Sacramental preparation, or saying the rosary before school, students are able to live out their faith in a truly Catholic environment.  SVdP also has a very unique peer-nominated Saint of the Month award.

Mass

St. Vincent de Paul Church has Daily Mass at 8 AM with our students attending and having active roles in the Mass twice per week and on Holy Days of Obligation. SVdP students serve as altar servers, gift bearers, lectors, cantors, and the choir.
  • Mass on Thursday is attended by third through eighth grade students. Second grade students join this Mass starting in the spring semester.
  • Mass on Friday is our “All School Mass” with all Kindergarten through 8th grade students attending.
  • Mass on Holy Days of Obligation also includes our Pre-Kindergarten students.

Adoration

Our Kindergarten through eighth grade students attend Adoration several times each semester. The practice of spending time, truly intentional and peaceful time, with the Blessed Sacrament allows us to experience God in ways that otherwise might go unnoticed in the busyness of our daily lives. Whether it be through specific prayers or meditation, our students become Guardian Angels of the Blessed Sacrament.

Reconciliation

Jesus Christ, in His love and mercy, established this Sacrament so that we as sinners can obtain forgiveness for our sins and reconcile with God. Our second grade students make their First Reconciliation as part of their First Communion preparation. Third through eighth grade students have the opportunity for Reconciliation during Advent and during Lent each year.

Saint Award

Started in 2017, the Saint Award was designed to help foster character formation in our students. With a purpose of instilling a desire in each child to practice Catholic virtues at home and school, the program also allows for many ‘teachable moments’ that arise each day.
Throughout the month, students learn more about the saint through classroom discussions and independent study. At the end of each month, students vote for a classmate that best represents the chosen Saint of the Month, and the winners from each class are announced and celebrated.
For November 2018, Saint Awards were given to….they will be awarded in 2 weeks, we can add names then.

Clergy Involvement

We are blessed to have very engaged and involved priests as part of our parish school. Monsignor David teaches 8th Grade Religion on a weekly basis as well as spending time in multiple classrooms throughout the year. He is also part of the School Board.
Father Martin is on campus several days a week. Whether as a guest teacher or helping with the volleyball and golf teams, he strives to help our students understand the priesthood in a different light.
Father Bala is always willing to visit and help our students better understand what it means to be Catholic.  After Mass, he is always in the Gathering Space answering a wide array of questions about God.
